This was actually all @helenhunt’s idea. In order to give her some ammo to make a fake Miles proposal in the pilot episode, she asked me to write what I thought Miles would actually say. And from that grew this moment. @jazzy_joness and I spent hours and hours talking about what Miles and Ashley’s 12 years must have been like, if they ever split up, what kept bringing them back to each other, why they had a son, how they had changed over the years, who they are to each other, and what loyalty, “ride or die”, true love, and weathering the storm of life together really means, when it gets unbearably hard. Then we filmed it just the two of us and a small crew, with Jess at the monitor to tell us when we got it.
All hail Ashley and Miles’s love, May it weather whatever the world throws at them.
